Touch-up Paint for my car. Best way?

Question:
I have a 10 year old car which has, inevitably, picked up the odd scratch and scrape. Mechanically the car is perfect - it's being let down just a little by some of the bodywork though.

i had my tires rotated and now my speedometer reads 110 when in doing 60. what the heck did they do to it?

Given that it's 10 years old, I'm unwilling to spend the money on it, and have decided to do it myself.

hi i have a opel corsa 98 and the oil is pissing out of a little thing on the engine?

I have repaired boats in the past so have some experience with fibreglass repairs. I have sourced the right tone of paint for my car (right 10 years ago that is...)

Scuff or Rust?

I'm looking for advice on filling, smoothing and priming the bodywork (both plastic bumper and metal bonnet) and also advice as to how to blend the paint to make any colour discrepency less noticable.

I'd suggest getting a hold of an air brush, or buying one of those model paint spray guns at Wal-Mart if the spots are small ... It sounds like you want it to look better than the average fix it uper' and if so an air brush will allow you to blend paint the best.

You'll want to feather the edges and go beyond the actual spots you've repaired so the human eye might notice the difference between new paint and 10 yr old paint, but most will not be able to tell where it starts and ends if you use an air assisted method.

Do not mask the area's ... this will just leave you with a puzzle effect, where it will appear you sectioned off area's and patched the car together.

Don't do it yourself, see if a friend has experience doing it and see if he will do it for cheap.

what happened to the three people on mount hood?

once you've applied the filler, spray a light coat of aerosol black over it this is called a guide coat. it will help to highlight any imperfections you might not otherwise see when your rubbing down. when your happy with the filler apply the primer and apply the guide coat. when all traces of the guide coat are gone you can be sure that there will be no pin holes or scratches in the final coat of colour/lacquer. also get some plastic adhesion promoter or anything you put on the plastic will peal off eventually

If the clearcoat is still looking okay on the car, it maybe worth taking in to a auto detailer and have it cut polished and then waxed. it will take out most hairline scratches that have not gone through the clearcoat. Before you take in to the detailer I would touch up some of the deeper scratches with the same color as it would blend it fairly nicely with the cut polish.
