Question:
I have problems with a new classic tacho installed on my engine ( 350 CHEV ) I have an ACEL electronic distributor installed , which the tacho is connected too .
When you first start the car the tacho is ok and is sitting on about 800 rpm. As time goes on over the next 5 to 10 minutes running of the engine the tacho progressively starts to get higher until the tacho reads about 5000 rpm.
The car is still idling at about 800 rpm at this time.
I have taken the tacho back to the instrument supplier and they have tested the tacho over time and said it operates ok.
I have also puchased a cheap tacho and installed it and it works fine.
