This car has very big rotors and pads and I've heard that the more contact surface there is the more likely a set brakes are to squeal. But honestly this noise is almost embarrassing, because the brakes don't sound new, they sound old. Brakes don't start getting noisy until about 15/20 minutes of city driving, and the sound appears to be coming from the front. The pads are aftermarket are the rotors have very good thickness. Someone who knows, please advise.

There are a couple of items on the shelf that claim to stop the squeal, but I have never used them. Ask your mechanic if he can recommend one. I have always just lived through the squeal-ey times.

when you put on new brakes you have to bed them, which means basically find a road, drive at around 50mph, and slam on the brakes. do a few times with about 30seconds inbetween to allow the brakes to cool a bit. keep doing it until you feel the ABS start working properly. make sure not to stay on the brakes once the car is completely stopped, that could warp the rotors.

i agree, Semi-metallic pads are the problem. Get some carbon or ceramic pads.Is it true that a chevy s10 with a 4.3L v6, 4wd, will only go for 120k miles?

First of all this is your problem. This thing called bedding brake shoes. Ive been in the auto industry for 26 yrs and that's a new one on me. You should have the rotors replaced on this particular Benz.These rotors are designed to be used with original equipment brakes from Benz.The materials used in Benz pads are a different compound than found in production type of aftermarket pads.These rotors are not recommended to be turned.Spend the extra money get the original pads and rotors.Why spend so little money on brakes for a car that is better than the average car.If someone talks you into turning these over sized rotors you will weaken them and in the end will have more problems than you have now.I own a Benz SL 500 and i have already been down this road take some good advise .Get original Benz parts.
