Are there any mods I should make after installing a cold air intake?

Question:
I will be getting a cold air intake for my 2001 Acura TL and the filter will be sitting right in front of the driver side wheel well, with the dront lip blocking it. There is a hole in the lip that's covered (looks like a hole but it's actually covered). Should I cut it out and put steel mesh on it, or would the intake function just as well without a cut out?

Answers:

How often should you drive a "spare" car?

you can if you want wont make a differece but i would recoment plugging it with something solid to keep mud and dust out of the engine compartment and it will keep it cleaner but rule of thumb if your a rookie any true cold air intake must have a bypass valve installed to prevent any water from being sucked up as little as 3oz of water can hydro lock a honda motor .
