Question:
I rebuilt my datsun back in the 80's. dont recall a cylinder coil but on my 2001 kia rio the mechanic says it is what is causing my problem. What is it?
Answers:
how does car headlights workespecially when the ignition is cut off? From where do they draw power?
Each cylinder has an individual coil that delivers the spark energy to the spark plug. Great idea as there are no long ignition wires to handle the job. No chance of resistance problems and the individual coils should run cooler and create a massive long duration spark too ignite lean fuel mixtures....its difficult replace a water pump .........Toyota Camry 88...........?
I think it's the same thing as an ignition coil which is essentially the same thing as a distributor. It's what makes to spark.how to remove rear bolt from water pump?
It is an ignition coil. If your car is sputtering or revving odd at any level of application this is the problem. It turns your batterys power into the sparks needed for your spark plug to operate...how do i get my car out of the shop?
It's basically a coil. In the past there was a single coil that upped the voltage and was distributed to each spark plug via a distributor. These days in the newer cars, the coil's signal is sent via an electronic signal. However voltage still needs to be increased. In my Kia Sephia, there are two cylinder coils. Each coil handeled 2 cylinders.
How do you know what you need a tune up?
The cylinder coil (at least for the kia sephia) was located under black cover that is on top of the valve cover. I believe the rio is similar. Remove the 2 bolts holding the black cover on top of the valve cover and the cylinder coils should be there with wires connected from the coils to the spark plugs.
