Question:
Corsa Breeze Diesel 1.7 (S reg- Isuzu engine) My battery keeps running flat and we just don't know why. I've had the alternator checked and put a new battery in but nothing seems to be working. There seems to be no real reason for the battery to die as i do quite long journeys in the car. There's no drain on the battery when it's not running (checked for faults too) and have fully charged the battery with a trickle charger more than once. Any ideas what could be wrong? i'm starting to think it must be the alternator even though i've had it tested but i just don't know! Is it possible to have an intermittent alternator fault?
Problem with getting truck to start?
Thanks

The voltage regulator could be shorted which will allow the battery to drain when the car is off. I don't know if the voltage regulator is built in to the alternator on that car or not. It might have an external regulator mounted on the fender well or firewall.
Need to look at a free repair manual for a 1993 Nissan Altman Manual transmision?
It could just be a loose connection from one of the alternator leads, how long have you had the battery? How to modify from distributor to wasted spark system?
Check to see if this vehicle has a 'Voltage Regulator', sometimes they are separate from the Alternator. If so, I can almost guarantee that that is the reason for the battery not taking a charge. What is the usual cost of Vinyl Printing?
my dad had a vauxhall that used to do that and he had everything checked, in the end it turned out to be the immobiliser was draining the battery, might be worth a look.Only thing I can think of is have you the right type of battery. If it is too small a capacity then starting the engine will knock the stuffing out of it and even long runs won't charge it up sufficiently. Had this problem running a Jag on too small a battery, more extreme situation but similar symptoms.
Have you checked the ground cable going to the frame for corrosion? That may prevent the battery from getting a full charge.
I have VW passat. The local garage has changed its right side o/s lower straight suspension arm.?
did you just check the alternator, make sure you check the charging system as well they are normally about $20.I have a 1994 misubishi 3000 gt, how to tune up on this model of car?
you may be looking at a frame short , bad wiring or a short in the alternator when its working , try connecting voltmeter to case of alternator and a outside earth, not the frame while runningCan someone reccomend a good extended auto warranty?
Some excellent answers here...and it could simply be that the battery is past it's best and needs replacing...have you had that checked out...How do you change the oil in a 95 SATURN SL-1?
check theres not a light left on inside the boot, thats what drained mine.Probably something simple like a bad connection. I'd have the entire electrical system checked by a competent vehicle electrician - probably cheaper in the long run, certainly easier on the temper.
Where is the fuel pump located in a 91 toyota 4runner?
The charging system is pretty basic, the alternator charges the battery. Make sure your fan belt is god and tight and all the connections to the battery and alternator are clean and tight. Try this test.... start the car, remove the positive battery connection, if the car stays running then alternator is good, if the car dies then the alternator is bad.Does anyone know of an inexpensive scan tool to reset the engine light on a 1995, C280 Mercedes?
Check the fan belt. The fan belt drives the altinator and if it is loose it may be slipping then the altinator may not be charging the BatteryI have a tuning file for an audi a6 but mines a quattro. does it make a difference?
Batteries can get strange faults, first, try disconnecting the battery when you leave the car, if you have a hydrometer, check the battery SG when you leave, and when you get back. How did you check for drain? The best way is to use a milliammeter, in series with the battery connection, when the car is off (remember to close doors & boot!). As for the Alternator, its not impossible that you have a sticky brush or a dry joint. The only way you would see this is if you had an ammeter on your dash, so you could monitor the output as you drive (had that setup once on a 1972 motor I converted from Generator to Alternator) If you are able to, maybe stripping the alternator, clean up,replace the brushes, and check/resolder the joints.
Jump started vehicle and now my stereo won't work, have I burned something out?
You probably need to buy a new battery. We have to at least every 2 years .Oklahoma weather is really tough on batteries. Also check you cables and make sure that they are not corroded.I had to change my starter cable on two different cars. They were really bad corroded inside.1998 corsa using excessive fuel?

it is possible to have an intermittent fault due to a loose connection or corroded terminal.as you say you have checked everything then this is the most likely scenario.i trust that you have a battery and alternator suitable for your car.check your charging rate with headlights and every thing else on with a amnmeterPlace spark plug wires on a Chevrolet Suburban 1993 8 cylinder?
HiOne popular cause for a mysteriously draining battery is the light in the luggage compartment staying on.
Remove the parcel shelf or drop the rear seats, and have a look (with the lid shut of course!!)
