What's wrong with my car?

<>Maybe the timing is off and maybe it's not. Turn #1 to TDC and see if the timing marks line up; if so, you're fine.

What should my car water temp gauge read in numbers at low, half, high in *c and *F?

Dude, all you have to do is make sure the new ignition is lined up to fire in the right order. when an engine is shut down, it doesn't always stop on the number one cylinder on the compression stroke ready to fire. It just stops where it stops. If you want to be sure, turn the crank to top dead center making sure it is on the compression stroke then install the ignition. I would recoment buying a chiltons or some sort of book on Chevy engines.

Is this car good for racing?

rotate the crank

Ethanol and gasoline differ in flashpoints but Ethanol looks for an igniter.. does gasoline do this also??

never seen a 393 chev engine, 396, 350, 272,306 283 , 454 and 400 have seen as long as plugs is in fireing order you can make any one of them number one
