Car Alignment?

Question:
I made a left turn onto a side street and my car slid on ice very hard into the curb on the passenger side. After this happened my car alignment seemed to be off. There was an unusual steering feel--stiffer than it used to, and the wheel did not return to the center position when released. The steering wheel is now cocked to one side when the front wheels are pointing straight ahead. I took it to an auto body to be looked at, and was wondering how bad it might be. Do you think it might be an easy alignment, or could it be more severe. If more severe, what are other things that could possibly happen after hitting a curb like that?

I'm getting a dead battery after my truck sits overnight. I'm also getting shocked when I touch the door.

Get it checked out by a mechanic. It could be an idler arm, tie rod ends need replaced or something with the ball bearings and axle?My sisters Honda just had something wrong with the ball bearings and the axle broke on the freeway. She was lucky to get out of it alive. The idler arm stuff usually starts out a a jiggle or vibration in the steering wheel when you are driving straight on the freeway.

I have a ford mondeo diesel and I'm getting pretty awful fuel economy.?

You could have bent the axle, or damaged the tie rods, or bent the wheel assembly. It could get expensive.

Does my ECU need to be flashed if I install larger rims on my car? If so ..why?

Sounds like it could be a little worse than just the alignment. Sounds like it could have something to do w/ one of the axles. I hope that it's not anything that is really $$$ and good luck!!

The alignment is definitely off. However, only a mechanic will be able to assess what other damage there is.

how to start a fuel injection vehicle in cold weather?

According to your report:
Your right front wheel might have hit the curb during the turn and bend the steering rod.
Usually the lower arms are quite strong, but not the steering rods.
Check to see if the rims are dented/bend.
Alignment alone will not be sufficent.
You need to check the steering rods, lower arms and the rim itself.
Good luck...

Is it bad for the engine to run it continuously (30 min) in the parking position to warm the car?

Best case the wheel is only out of alignment.
Worse case, some suspension and steering parts are bent, as well as the rim. They have to be changed before the alignment.
As soon as the mechanic will try to align it he will find out if something is bent.

Probably not an axle. The steering system has a lot of parts. Some expensive and some not too bad.

Who do I take my car to...?

Probably needs alignment and could be any thing. If it is quoted too expensive, get a second opinion.

A suspension shop may be the best place to start. Or a general purpose repair and tire shop like Firestone.
