Whats wrong with my car?
My car has the 'check engine' light on.
And before when i started the engine, it would rumble as if it were threatening to give out, but never does.
How can I get white paint specks off my black car?
Acceleration isnt a problem. It purrs like a cat whenever I'm going faster than 20 miles per hour.
what can be done changed/done on an engine to make it perform as if it were new?
But when i slow down and stop at a stop sign, it would rumble (the whole car rumble, not the noise)
Now it doesnt rumble anymore when i start it, but the check engine light is still on.
My car is a 1997 toyota camery 6 cylinder automatic.

A check engine light should not be ignored. What triggers this malfunction indicator lamp is a reading in the on board computer system that is reading outside of it's parameters. Starting in '96 the OBDII systems can compensate for a problem. Just because the car is running better does not mean the problem went away, it could be masked by the system. It sounds the problem could be anything from a simple vacuum leak to a sensor to a mechanical problem. Auto zone can only tell you the fault code-not the root cause of the concern. The best way to find out what has been going on is to bring your car to someone that has the proper knowledge and equipment.go to your local autozone and have them run the check engine codes for you. it will tell you what is wrong.

This is an item that can be reset by any capable mechanic or the dealer/Should not cost much. Make sure you check the oil level in your car,as low oil level will make this light come on.i own a repair shop,and if you,ll take it by any auto zone and have them scan it ,it might tell you whats going on with it,then you,ll know more of what to do on it,i wouldn't buy any parts though until i had it scanned, it may be just a simple sensor gone bad on it,probably an 0-2 sensor but the scanner will tell you for sure,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

when the check engine light comes on it means the engine isn't running good and clean it not uncommon in the winter. don't worry about the light just drive it. I think what happened was your chock got stuck, or maybe some dirt in the carb and it was running to rich. then it got cleaned out and now the it is trying to clean out.1998 Ford Contour? NEVER NEVER ignore an engine light being on.it indicates there is a problem.you could be driving along and your car will quit.if you go to Toyota ,they will pull a code for your problem for a small amount of $.if you let it go ,could do alot more damage and could cost you a whole lot more money to repair.it's possible it could be as simple as a gas cap problem and as serious as a computer problem.do have it checked asap.refer to your owners manual.'90 Ford Ranger Transmission issues?
