probably the "weep hole" in the water pump or a hose clamp. My exhaust is making noise...what could it be?
if u need to know have it pressure testedHow do I remove the passenger side axle on a 1994 Saturn SC?
Where exactly is the antifreeze/coolant leaking from. It could be a number of things other than the head gasket. Some waterpumps lose the seal when the packing wears out and then start to leak. Another obvious spot is at either end of the coolant/rad hoses and/or the heatercore hoses. Also the heatercore itself could be suspect and not an obvious leak because the water can run anywhere, so check your floormats and carpet for wet spots.A compression check could be the easiest way to find out if your head gasket might be the culprit, assuming your compression is still good in the engine. Hope i havent confused you and this is helpful.
Rust removal, prep on 85 Chevy truck-- I'm TOLD it's now so easy a caveman can do it. True?
If the coolant is dripping on the ground, the likelihood of a head gasket failure is nil.The two most common points of coolant leak on this vintage G.M is either the water pump (at the weep hole) or at the "robot" connector for the heater hose at the rear of the intake manifold. This fitting is made of very cheesy material and is prone to erosion due to electrolysis. This fitting can be purchased at nearly any parts store or the dealer. But BE AWARE: if it is the culprit, it will break off very easily and will be a nightmare to remove the broken off nipple without the tool made for this purpose. It is just an easy-out, but specially constructed and the correct size to accomplish the removal.
The only other common external leak other than the heater core is tha radiator.
