Having trouble with my 2000 Toyota Celica...please help?

Question:
Okay so about a week ago i was driving on a hill and the "check engine" light on my 2000 Celica went on. As i accelerated it wouldnt respond like it usually does, its as if it was stuck on 50mph, and the rpms highly accelerated by themselves.

OK will a single t3 turbo be fine to run on a stock 350sbc accept for forged pistons?

I kept driving the car, as i wanted to get home. I didn't get a chance to go get it checked out, so i left it like that. Two days later i used it again and the light went off. But i still feel that theres something wrong with the car. Like when i turn the car on while on parking the RPMs are at 3000, and later it goes down to 1000 after i put it on R or D.

i have alot of engine noise in my car.how do i get rid of it?

Also, when i'm getting on the highway and i accelerate to get to 60mph it takes a while to get there, its as if it gets stuck.

How often do you REALLY need to change your oil?

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

i have a prestone leak on a 96 jimmy... the oil is clean...does that mean the head gasket is starting 2 go?

Go to an autozone auto parts store if you have one in your area to get the computer error codes read out for free. They will tell you what the code means. If the idle really is up to 3000 RPM at hot engine idle, you may have "unmetered" air getting into the engine or a problem with the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve which the computer constantly controls at idle to keep your RPMs around 750 RPM normally. But the lack of normal acceleration means the computer might be having to default to fixed "limp home mode" fuel injection settings because some of your sensors are giving it bum information. That's what the error codes will help tell you: Which sensors etc are not working right.

My 1996 Ford Taurus will shudder and vibrate badly once it has been driven and restarted the second time.?

I sounds as if you have a Vacum leak. Have some one Mechanical back ground open the hood and start the car and let it warm up. Then take a can of Either and spray it around the, and along the Vacum lines and at the base of the Carb and see if you hear a pitch in the engine while spraying the Either. If the pitch canges on the engine while appling the Either like it reves up a little maybe 400 on the RPMs then you've found your vacum leak. Fix or replace the Vacum hose that is defective or cracked and spray again until you can spray the whole Vacum Diagram and not have any changes in the RPMs and I think that will cure your problem. Good look. Either is canned starting fluid.

how much should i expect to pay for a new timing belt and water pump on a 98 ford escort being fixed in a shop

I first check for a vacuum leak. Look for a hose blown off or cracked. You can usually hear this too.Have seen a few toys with intake gaskets leaks so check there too. If no leaks are found I'd look at the throttle position sensor next. If your not good with cars go to the repair shop. If you are good with cars take a dvom and back probe the tps.Your going to want to see .5 to 1 volt on the return signal wire.If its high replace it and set it to .7 volts.Over that your looking at a bunch of possibilities.Good luck hope I helped
