1993 Mazda MX3 4cyl 175K miles shakes and sounds like its going to stall out when idle. Any Ideas?

When I start the car, it occasionally has a high idle around 2K.
After a minute or two (after warming up), the idle goes back down to around 1K.

How to figure CFM?


When the car is in Neutral after a few seconds of sitting idle, the car begins to shake and the motor sounds like its about to stall out.
After giving it gas, it operates as normal...but then it starts over again and sounds like its going to stall out...it doesnt actually die...but its like borderline.

The number one thing to look at is going to be vacuum lines. anything that lets air into your car that the computer cannot account for is going to make it run worse. If you do not have a check engine light on then this would be the most simple thing to check.The only bad part is with it doing it only after it gets warm, it could be something like the O2 sensor, or some other part of the fuel injection system.

i have the mazda 323f basicly the same car different body. the car will never cut out if thats your worry. whats causing it is things you turn on in the car ( lights heater fan back window demister) take power and when the car takes more power than the alternator is producing it draws more off the engine, which when its at idle is just enought to make the car labour slightly. its nothing really to worry about but one thing is check your alternator to make sure its still working properly ( it might over time be putting out less power) it might need to be replaced.

Bought a 2000 Honda CRV w/109,000km, I've put 1,500km and now find out it needs a front upper control arm.

Cap, and rotor button too. Try vac lines. Theres one that turns brittle on the EGR, and leaks.
