Spark Plug Problem?

Question:
I've been trying to change the spark plugs on my 1995 Mazda Protege, but for some reason, I can't get them out. I'm positive I'm using the right ratchet size to get it out (I looked in the manual), what could be the problem? Sludge?

Heres your solution. What happens is carbon builds up on the exsposed threads of the plug. What you want do do is pick up two bottles of Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner. Put one in the tank. The other, take off the vacumm line from the PCV valve and stick it in the container of cleaner. Let it suck it out while reving the engine at a high idle. What this will do is knock all the carbon out of the combustion chamber, cleaning the crap of the end of the exsposed plugs in the cylinder head.

If you were able to successfully untighten them, then maybe your plug socket is worn. you might want to try getting it out with a long magnet.

A/C problem?

I doubt it is sludge. I am guessing that you cannot get the spark plug to turn. this occurs when the person that installed the spark plugs previously he/she tightened them way too tight. This will cause the plug to freeze in the head. there are a variety of solutions to this problem at the autopart store.

Why is my 1999 Pontiac Grand AM still running hot?

it depends on if the ratchet is turning and the plug isn't. If that is the case then the plug is stripped or are using the wrong size socket, (I suggest a 6 point socket). if the socket is just extremely tight then make sure you use a six point socket and get a bigger ratchet or a cheater bar. I you have a dual overhead cam engine and the plugs are between the cams (down in the holes on the top of the engine) the the holes could be partially filled with oil and dirt causing the socket not to reach the plug properly then you need to clean the holes. compressed air would work good use safety glasses
