How do you use a spark tester?

Question:
the tester doesnt come with instructions that tell you how to test the spark plug, wire, or coils seperately. So if you stick the tester on and the light doesnt pulse while cranking, how will you know if its the wire, the spark plug, or the coil/ignition problem?

Good question

A bad smell why ?

There are many different types of testers, and I have no idea which one of the many you have, but generally they are a pass/fail type tester. Either there is, or isn't, spark. If there is not, it would be up to you to find out why there isn't.

Exhaust question.?

most just plug into the coil.and should flash when u turn it over

About 3 weeks ago I had my front brakes done at NBT. 2 weeks ago back brakes done at Midas. Now they squeak?

If you substitute a spark tester in place of a cylinder's spark plug, then you can see if good blue spark is getting to that cylinder's spark plug. However, some spark testers only work if you have spark plug wires rather than COP (Coil Over Plug) systems which have no spark plug wires.

I own a 1984 Ford F150, manual, 4X4. The ignition jammed and I need to get it started, how can I hotwire it?

just use a spark plug.put a plug on the plug wire and carnk the engine,to see it sparks, and also you can use a olm meter to check the wires.
