Question:
if this is true, why dont the original manafacturerers put them on the car from the factory? seems silly to me and a gross exaggeration of hp increase
Answers:
1987 Ford f150 problem,need help!?
They do add extra horsepower at the rated rpm--so if your driving at 6000 rpms everywhere you go--you won't notice a thing, except slight traces of dirt in your engine--because the only way to make filters more free flowing is to limit the size particle that they normally trap. So you see them in race engines where adding a little horsepower may mean the difference between 1st and 2nd--but at the end of a race or two they plan on rebuilding it anyways. That is why Manufactures don't install them --they have to warranty the engines for 75k, 100k miles. If you "dust" your engine your not covered under warranty.Does Pick up Trucks use more gas if the tailgate is up.?
20 is a huge exaggeration. usually about 1-5 hp.i need help installing my horn?
Most are scams except for K an N air filters.20 is way high,5 hp from some sytems might happen but there are a lot of other factors as well that effect this number.engine tune ,fuel etc.some of the fine print may say premium fuel and timing advance is required etc
Scan says torque converter. How much should it cost to fix? Pontiac Transport 95. Low gas mileage,?
All of the reports I have seen claim that they do increase horsepower due to more air flow & when they do get dirty you can clean them & put them back on. I think the car lines do not use them because they are more expensive & they cannot continue to keep selling replacement filters!Do I need to bleed the brake lines when changning just the brake pads for disk brakes?
It's like those hamburger ads that show a big fat juicy burger, then you order one and get something looking NOTHING like the ad.why does my gearbox not drive the wheels?
Just lies. Even with a cold air intake, horsepower increase is marginal. Additionally, such increases are not throughout the entire powerband, but only in the upper parts. Effectively, under daily driver conditions (unless you are a nut every day to work!), you are wasting more money on the intake than it will ever give back.IT is BBBB SSSSSS....
