What's this smell...?

Question:
this is the situation... i tried to peel out in my '07 S2000. i rev it to 6000 RPM then i dropped the clutch. instead of peeling out... the tires gripped and then out of nowhere there's this smell coming out of the engine or something. it smells sort of like engine oil. what could this have been? anybody have similar situation happened to them? thank you very much if anybody has any insights!

AP2 (2004+) S2000s have a clutch delay valve which slows down the clutch engagement during abrupt actions such as stated. The intent was to reduce shock on the drivetrain and save primarily the rear differential.

PEUGEOT 307 SW deisel fuel additive min level how do i top this up and where is it located?

The downside is that when you mean to dump the clutch for a quick peel out, all you get is a lurching start and a burning clutch. It's not anything to worry about unless you try it regularly - just let the clutch cool down and everything should be fine.

Random Car Trouble - Speedometer doesnt work? RPM doesnt shift? Gas Gauge acting weird?

Some people have actually replaced the AP2 clutch delay value with the AP1 (2000-2003) valve to alleviate this. Caveat - this is not hard to do, but only have someone experienced do this for you if you choose to go this route.

It doesn't bother me since I didn't buy my S2000 to drag race and it doesn't really have any affect on a road course.

you floated the valves or its transmission fluid. word of advice next time you try peeling out don't dump the clutch. try coming of the clutch just like taking off normally then floor it. don't over rev it and if you can shift do the same thing with all the gears.

I have a rattling noise coming from up under my 1992 Chevy Suburban 2wd, has anyone experienced similar?

its prolly the smell of your clutch burning....its usually like a nasty burning smell. dropping the clutch or riding the clutch real hard will cause this and once you smell it once you will know what it is, pretty distinct i'd say. I wudnt be droppin my clutch to often, its terrible on your car and cause many problems. just a suggestion
