Can I drive a vehicle with a cracked flywheel?

Question:
Has automatic transmission. Starts fine but increasingly loud noise emanates from transmission area as I travel. Need to get to funeral some distance away day after tomorrow, so repair not possible. Could it break apart, and if so what would happen if driving on highway? Thank you!

It is good that you have discovered that your flywheel(its really a flexplate) is bad now.A flywheel is in a stick shift and a flexplate is in an automatic transmission. Most people dont realize when they have a cracked flexplate.Personally i have seen people put thousands of miles on a vehicle that has a cracked flexplate.Driving it is not recommended by any means and i am NOT recommending it now but think of it this way--if you didnt know the flexplate was cracked would you still drive it??I am willing to bet you that this thing will hold up for a much longer time if your easy on it but like i said i am NOT recommending you to drive it!! At least try to get it to a shop asap after the funeral if you intend on driving it.This fix at a shop will be costly!! Possibly around $300-$500.Good luck and be safe!! I hope you make the right decision!

Bike not starting?

Dont drive it. The repair should only run you $350 - $500 at most and depending on your vehicle, they may be able to do this without removing the transmission, and a good reputable shop could have it done in time for the funeral you need to go to. I suggest you dont drive this thing untill it gets fixed, right now your problem is small, the flywheel (actually called a flexplate on an automatic trans.) breaking in 2 while you are driving will multiply your problems by about x20.

How much time/cost involved in bumper repair?

Don't drive it. It will break and you will be stuck in the middle of the highway. The worst that could happen?? A piece could rip through the bellhousing and through the floor and cause serious injury to yourself. DONT DO IT!

Driving Style, i drive my manual tranny toyota corolla in this order?

What are you talking about? An automatic tranny has no flywheel. It has a torque converter.

How much does an 02 sensor replace cost on an honda accord 96?

You dont have a cracked flywheel since your car doesnt have one. Your problem could be somewhere else. Auto tranny's are normally quiet. The noise could be a mis-aligned torque converter or you probably just got a loose tranny mount. Check the underside and see if you lost some bolts or a part may be loose.

I have a 25 year old car; and the dashboard is cracked, parched and discolored from the sun.?

Yes you can if you have too, but once it breaks you looking at replaceing alot more then just your fly wheel, i would jsut take care of it now and not drive it.
