Your Timing best regulates the firing of your cylinders and your car would run very rough. However if your fuel pump went out it would be like running rough until your car just die. Like running out of gas. If you let it sit for just a while you might just be able to start you car again, but you wouldn't be able to drive far with out it stopping again. If you have a full tank and your car starts and then stops. I would look into that. Someone who is able to work of simple things should be able to fix this for you. A fuel pump once that get to where it is at, is easy to remove. Just don't have a full tank of gas when you start this project. Hope this helps.

fuel pumps bad will cause you no gas to engine and it wont run. or may run but be sluggish until it does die. timing belt generally it really runs like xxit, barely start. or not run at all.
