Question:
So i have a 96' nissan altima and it wont start. I checked the current from the distrubutor to the spark plugs and nothing, but there is spark going into the distrubutor from the ignition coil, i changed the distrubutor , and nothing. please help.
Answers:
Have you checked your ignitor?
check the spark plug. make sure that the spark plug has spark. pull a number one plug out and have someone turn the key over and see if there is spark in it. make sure the end of the plug is grounded. if there is no spark, then your plug is bad, or your plug wire or distributor is bad.
i own a repair shop, and you need to check the igniter and the rotor button on it,,either of these will make it do this,,that's about all it can be ,,other than a bad ignition switch,,good luck hope this help,s.
Overfilling power steering fluid?
Test your coil, it could have a weak spark. Is your timing belt still good? If so you may have either a faulty ignition switch, or a bad relay. I'd start with the coil though. How to replace windshield washer pump on 1995 Mercry Villager van ?
check your fuel pressure maybe your fuel pump is out,if this doesnt help check all the vacuum hoses maybe there is a leak, this is assuming the engine even cranks, if not then perhaps your battery or starer are shot.

I'd say your points aren't closing and opening. Do you see an intermittent spark at thee points as you roll the engine over? With a small test lite, stick an end into the distributor wire hole where a spark plug wire would normally be. Ground the other end to the block. Have someone roll over the motor There should be a spark inside your test light. You may have bad condenser. Is the small wire solidly fastened from the coil to the distributor? The rotor may have a missing or bent blade The distribute cap may be missing the little carbon point in the center. Check the high voltage wire with an ohms meter. twist the wire as you check, you may have an "open" in th HV wire.-------------------I think your testing me. I assumed all cars had ignition modules in these days.More Questions & Answers ...
