My car makes a ticking noise (like a baseball card stuck in a bicycle) what could that be?

Probably. Those two body styles are almost an exact match. GM was big into the cross utilization back then so something simple like the radiator should slide right into the place of the old one. I would say give them both a good looking over and if all the openings are in the right places, go for it.

Why won't it go in sometimes?

As long as the physical size and connections are the same yes.

probably will work as long as the radiator hose hook-ups are in the same place.
