Question about what I should do on my car repair?

Question:
I recently purchased a used car with 80k on it. Two weeks after ownership the transmission blew on it. Under the federal law all cars requires a buyer guide and typically under normal conditions the car gets a 30 day warranty. Now the dealership is taking car of the repair but it is going on 2 1/2 weeks now it's been in the shop and they said yesterday it was going to be done tomorrow and now they are telling me today three more weeks maybe. My question is what should I do I already called stating this is nuts and I need a loaner as I military with 3 small children and one car just isn't cutting it. Both children have medical conditions which require to see medical specialist and sometimes the appointments are booked 3 to 4 months in advance. It is becoming very difficult on our family to get around with just one car on the days I work as I pull 12 to 14 hour days gone from 4:00 am till about 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Can I request them to move it too a repair station of my choice?

How do I set the timing on a 1.9?

Yes, fortunately they are taking care of the repair instead of trying to weasel out of it on some technicality. I know you are being inconvenienced and they are dogging the job because it's not a profitable task. Maybe they are trying to annoy you enough so you'll take it elsewhere but I can almost guarantee that if you take the car from their shop, all deals are off and you may be stuck with repair costs. I'd question them as to the nature of the delay and why you are being told different things all the time. It appears to me that the fastest way to get this transaction finished, you happy and them able to move on to other jobs is to put a rebuilt transmission in your car.

I'd take this matter up with your local JAG office next time you're on Base. Or at least ask your First Sergeant, or CO.

How do you use a spark tester?

Ford and GM have quality remanufactured transmissions (not "rebuilt"). I'd expect a newly remanufactured transmission to be installed, and it's as simple as them ordering one and installing it. So what's the problem? (that would be my question).

Technically, a dealer is NOT obligated to provide ANYTHING on a used vehicle unless it's specifically stated in the contract. Whoever told you that there is a federal law covering used vehicle warranty played a practical joke - there is no such thing. In your case, there probably is a 30-day warranty provision in the contract BUT IT'S NOT THE LAW. There also is no legal time limit on used car repairs.
No, you cannot use a shop of your choice, and no - you are not entitled to get a loaner.
Sorry.
