If you speedometer does not work at all you can't calibrate it, if it is not reading anything when you drive possible cause is the plastic gear that is on the end of the cable that goes in the side of your transmission, or the plastic gear inside your speedometer. I would pull the cabel out of the transmission on the side and see if the gears are stripped, depending on your model where it is at on the transmission. Tire size plays a big factor on correct speedometer reading, if it is not the same size that was recommended for your car or truck the MPH will be off.
