Question:
I've noticed that when braking at slow speeds (approaching lights or stop signs) that it feels like the brakes are "sqeezing and releasing, squeezing and releasing" rather than a steady slowing stop. I've also noticed that when braking at high speeds ( taking highway exits or turning off of rural highways) that it feels as if the truck (I think it's only the rear) is "bouncing." We've done the brakes and bled them and I also changed a right front CV joint but nothing has changed with the symptoms. I'm no mechanic and I don't know any personally. But someone told me that this is normal in a 4x4 with anti-lock brakes. That sounds like a load of crap to me. I've never noticed anything like this in any other vehicle I've driven. Does anybody know whats causing these things? Or is it true what my friend said?

My car is making a loud noise when I turn the heat on.?
Sounds to me like it is the ABS system. If memory serves me correct those trucks have a major recall on them for leaks in the brake system(most catching on fire when it is not even running). I would take it to a dealership not a local mech. I think you might be getting air in the lines, which messes up the ABS sensors. You might want to look and make sure a ABS sensor isn't bent in putting it too close to the rotor
It is not a 4x4 thing it is your abs system is acting up it shouldn't do this unless your braking on an uneven or slick surface. Is there any sound when the brakes are applied and this is happening? Also try changing the brake pads and have the calipers check make sure they aren't sticking. I have worked on the braking system of my truck as well as my dad's and we have had similar problems occur
What is the regular maintenance for an automatic trans?
Does the brake pedal pulsate? Sounds more like a rotor out of parallelism, or a rear drum out of round , not ABS.What is the purposes of a speed sensor and how does it effect the performance of a car?
Have you ever noticed the skid marks on the street that appear to be a even spaced dashed line of rubber? That's when you apply the breaks hard and they're there to keep you from skidding. So, my question to you is, does it do it relatively fast and how hard is it doing it? Can your passengers notice? My mom had a Van that weighed more than a semi and when you went to break on it would do the same thing but with a wobble to it.Not sure about a fix, I wasn't to concerned about it and she is still driving it with about 108,000 miles on it
