Go buy a replacement gas line, or clip a small amount of excess line off the car and use it as a sample to test the brake cleaner on... that way you will know for sure.Why is my car rev'ing on its own?
For me it almost completely dissolved a rubber diaphram in a last ditch effort to clean out an EGR valve. I ended up buying a new valve anyway.

Just spray the cleaner on a rag and wipe with it. Keep off of the gas lines, it will soften the rubber.
