Your oil pump might be on the way out. You will find that the warning light comes on for longer periods. It will need to be replaced or you will do permanent damage to the engine.

Hello,Make sure your oil is at a correct level. if its just hovering on the just above empty on the dip stick, then for example going around corners will bring the light on. it happened to me when the level was not critical at all but just hovering above the lower limit.

The light shows when the pressure is too low. . .if the oil is not pumping correctly, then it will show that the oil is low, because your car thinks that there is less than what there really is. I would start by changing your oil if you haven't done it for awhile. It should be changed every 3,000 miles. The oil breaks down with time and looses its vascosity. Even more so in high R.P.M. engines. This is the cheapest place to start and it's probably time anyway. If your oil smells like gas, it's overdue. hope this helps. The Car GuyPardon me if I sound patronizing, but are you sure you are checking it correctly? In some vehicles the transmission fluid stick and the engine oil dip stick are easily confused. Also, you need to wipe the stick first, redip it (with then engine NOT running), and then make sure it is at the right mark (either between two lines or in a cross hatched area).
