How to untangle this car job?

Question:
I took my sports car to a self-employed specialist mechanic to do some work on it. Sadly, he has died with the work half done. Am I liable to pay anything to the estate? What about finishing the work? And how long before all this gets sorted?

Answers:

what light is the light that continually lights up on my dashboard,it looks like an engine. i have a vectra?

I think the best thing to do would be to write to the garage explaining the situation. His next of kin will advise on what they would like to do. I doubt you would be charged anything other than the cost of any new parts provided. They may be able to point you in the direction of another mechanic to finish the job. If your a member of AA or similar they may be able to help in moving the car.

can someone please tell me whats wrong with my car?

What a mess. First you have to get posession of the car and parts, then find someone to complete it. They might be able to bill you for work done ( but who is alive that can judge what is done, what needs to be done and if you owe them money or if they owe you cause it will cost you more to get it done ?? ) You should gently approach someone. Maybe drive by his garage and if people are out there, offer your condolences, and ask how you get your car and parts.
