98 Jeep Grand Cherokee-Stalling While Accelerating?
could be a couple of things, MOST of the time when I worked as a honda tech, it was simple. . a tune up, replace air filters, etc. How many miles do you have on it? Hondas estimate usually at 75k to have a tune up replacing spark plugs and what not. . .I would say no more than 60k. Also, your idling could be off. Or you could need a transmission flush, I have seen more than once a flush take care of the problem. I cannot stress enough how important regular maintenances are on a car. . . I have seen Hondas come through with close to 400k miles on them, they are good cars, just keep it maintained!!Cost to fix 2006 Rav 4, rear ended today?
something may be wrong somewhere with the ignition or the fuel. i would recommend that it is time for a tune up.I would wager you need a new transmission.
My car was idling then stopped an dwont turn over all the way??
i think its ur drive shaft or transmission, by the way ur pretty cuteassuming that it is an automatic transmission maby the lockup torque converter is not releasing...does it lurch forward as it stalls? Maby the engine idle is set too low, does it stall if you rev the engine up just a little when it's put in gear.
anyone know of a cheap place to get a smog check?
If the car idles well out of gear then the problem must lie with pressure on the engine when the transmission is engaged. This is probably a simple and inexpensive fix, maybe the idle is off ( a little too low), or it could be a blocked air filter just choking it out enough not to be able to readjust idle quick enough to keep it running.I would suggest taking it to a shop and getting a general tune up. It is a 1996 so it probably needs it. Should be reasonably priced too. Hope this helps.
Can a failed starter stall a car while driving it?
I would start by changing the air filter. If that doesn't do it, check your idle speed. It could be fast enough to idle in Park, but too low to idle in gear. Also, the timing could be retarded. At most, I think a tune-up by someone who "KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING", will fix your problem. The Car Guy
do not consider going out/boyfriends or even eating until you have saved enough cash up to give your local friendly drunken redneck Mechanic a very very hefty sheath of well earned Beer Vouchers.I wish I was close by,I would love to take 2k plus cash off you to fix your Transmission.
