How can I unstick my car horn?

Question:
I just bought a car recently, and the horn sticks sometimes. I wouldn't mind so much if it just stuck when I honked it, but last night I awoke at 3:30 in the morning to find that the horn was going off. Short of just pulling the wires, what can I do to unstick the horn? It's a '99 Ford Escort.

Car accelerates to 40, then when pushing the gas after 40 it revs the engine as if im in neutral?

Are you talking about a constant horn blow, or intermittant like on an alarm? If it is a constant rythmic beeping, then refer to other posts regarding the alarm.
If constant.... then most likely a problem in the relay, the horn switch or burried in the wiring. This is not something that can be diagnosed completely on Y! Answers, but perhaps we can get you pointed int he right direction.
Relay:
Check connections on relay, could be switch bounce related to sparatic input. Next, try tapping on it with something (not too hard).

What would most of you buy ? a newer car thats high mileage or a older car low mileage?

Switch:
Just for giggles... if you want to verify a switch problem... With the battery disconnected, press the horn button slowly and listen/ feel for a click, that's the horn button engaging. Sometimes spilling various beverages on the steering wheel can gum up the switch over time. This car has airbags, so it may be costly to repair, verify with a service center or the dealer.

Jeep usually starts up great but a couple of times lately i've gotten nothing?

The cheap route either way would be to disconnect the horn under the hood and revert to the method our great-grandparents used in lieu of the horn... the one-fingered salute.

I have a leak in my plugged tire and have to fill it up every day. Short on money now. Soultions?

Good luck!

How much will it cost to replce cylander head?

does the car have an alarm that makes the horn sound?? you may have a problem in the steering wheel.

If a tie rod on your car needs to be replaced..?

It's a little strange.....

how hard would it be to change the struts/shocks on my 97 ford taurus?

Pull the + cable off the battery. that should stop it.
I agree with first poster, could be an alarm, acts like one, sounds like one.
Trace the Fuse box down, then look at what fuses should be there and what has been added if anything there will or should be a fuse for any alarm that was added, unless it is an inline fusible link. In that case, may have to trace the wires from what is emitting the sound.
If it is just a short in the wiring that could be it also, trace all the wires down and make certain they are connected properly.

Can you prevent an engine from knocking without using premium gas?

I am not sure what causes it but I have got the same problem,I just unplugged mine. You may not want to do that,it's probably a relay or something. If you have an alarm system that works with the horn I wouldn't unplug it...If you had your alarm set it might be that a dog brushed up against your car or someone might have been trying to break in your car....
