My car won't start and it isn't the battery cause it new?

Question:
The RPM would move freely and then it shuts the engine down. If it stays still then the car moves ok. Had the same problem before, but not as bad as now, but after changing the alternator it went away now it has come back and I don't know what could be the problem. Taking it to Pepboys so they can run a full check on it, if it can make it there. My car is a 95 Honda Prelude.

This might not fix your problem but check the electrical wiring to and from the alternator to your battery. If loose it might be a partial cause to your malfunction.

"New" don't mean that it is good. but to know if it is the battery or not, try to turn on ur light.....the none of the light work....then it's the battery. Other than that, u'll need a mechanic to check for u. goodluck

If the engine only runs for 4 or 5 seconds and then shuts the engine down, you could have a problem with your ignition system in which your losing spark to one of the cylinders. But your check engine light should be coming on and storing an error code in your computer that they can read out at PepBoys.
