What would cause an auto to not accelerate?

My car started hav ing difficulty accelerating, It has gas, and I have been told that I may need a tune up. It is a Vovlo, (1987) and has been doing well.

very vague description. I would change the fuel filter and air filter. If that doesn't fix it I would suggest taking it to a reputible shop and have a professional determine the problem. other wise you might spend twice as much guessing at the problem verses fixing the defect right away

Once that's changed, it might be time for a new fuel pump. They can test the old one by checking fuel pressure. Quick and easy and the most likely problem.
