Question:
Our wood splitter grinds and grinds so I know that the battery is in good shape. I recently put new spark plugs wires on it also. This started happening recently and I needed to use it so I took the spark plugs out and made sure that they had spark which they did. Then I dropped a few drops of gas down each hole and it fired right up. How can I make this engine start without having to take the spark plugs out every time and put a little gas in the holes.

TROUBLE with my HID lights...HELP?
use the choke, or spray a little starting fluid around carb filter.it a gas problem as you proved.. id replace the carb and fuel filter
Are you using the choke? Are you sure the choke is working?
Car not starting sounds like engine flooded?
Without any other info, I'm guessing the engine is of the lawn and garden veriety. Maybe a Briggs and Stratton. Probably a 5 hpor slightly larger. It is a fuel flow problem and is easyily remedied if you have a little time and some patience and some mechanical apptitude. You should have a good local small engine repair shop that you can get a carb rebuild kit for your application. Its just a matter of removing the carb, throughly disassembling the carb in a clean place an one where the parts won't be disturbed if you have to leave it because of interuptions.
Be causious of the disassembly so you can reassemble correctly. A carb dip can be had from your local auto parts store.
Disassemble the carb removing all plstic parts carfully and soak all the metal ones in the dip for 15 to 30 mins. reassemble and it should provide you with many trouble free uses.
To further prevent any other issues with any engine that may be at rest for long periods of time, my I suggest you go to Wal-Mart of you local auto parts store and purchase Sta-Bil, a fuel additive that will prolong the shelf life of your fuel.
