Most are a screen, and like bostonian said, inside the pan. I doubt it's dirty, your tranny isn't that old. That's the nice thing about japanese cars, they have drain plugs, so the tranny can be drained and refilled.

I would suggest you get a drain plug installed when you take the pan off. That way, you can drain it every 25k miles.
