What could it mean when my "battery no charge" light comes on?

i own a shop and usually it means that something has stopped it from charging,if it stayed on it will be a lot easier to find the cause of it,if the light went back off you,ll have to have the battery and the alternator checked to it to see if its either one of them,and it can also just be a simple loose battery cable or a bad connection near or around the battery,but until you check it out you,ll never know,most of the time on the ones i work on its usually a bad connection and people go and buy a lot of new things and it still don't repair them,so check it real good and auto zone or advance auto parts can check the battery and the alternator for free,and this will help you narrow it down a lot,good luck i hope this helps.

it could be a number of things a loose wire, broken fan belt or worn brushes in the alternator. its cheaper to change the graphite brushes yourself than buy a new alternator. it should only cost a couple of dollars. when you this check the condition of the copper disk or ring that the brushes come in contact with. just to make sure it still has plenty of copper left, it should have, if the brushes havent been renewed multiple times in the past.
