Where is the Camshaft Position Sensor located on the 97 Chevy Malibu LS?

Question:
I was told that this part may be bad on my car. The valves just started ticking adn then my car died. It started back up fine but my idle is not regular, the valves are still ticking, there is no Engine light on, and yes there is oil in my car. I ask the guy at the parts store he suggested the Camshaft Position Sensor. What do you think?

No, if the cam sensor was acting up, there would be a "check engine light" right away. With excessive lifter noise, the only sensor that would pick that up is the knock sensor. I would suggest having your engine flushed (adding cleaners to your old oil and run it 1500 rpms with no load for a while, my best secret is to use Dextron III ATF fluid) and change the oil with something half decedent. If that does not free up the lifters, your looking at some money to replace them.
