What should I do regarding my Ford Taurus!?

Question:
I have a 2002 Ford Taurus. It has 105,000 miles. Just recently it hasn't been starting. So we recharged the battery and it worked fine for a while. Died again. Recharged it a 2nd time and worked for a while. Now it's completely dead and for some reason when I pull the latch to release the hood that doesn't work! Does anyone know whats wrong?

Answers:

Why won't it go in sometimes?

try having someone bounce the hood at front endge up and down whille you try release again sometimes this will get it open but bottom line is your cable is stretched and needs replacement.
Charge battery again and use voltmeter start engine and put positive lead on positive of battery and negative lead on negative post the reading should be 12.5 volts or better. leave it on for awhile and seeif it stays at 12.5 or goes up then that will tell you the alternator is charging . If it drops or you dont notice an increase when you raise engine RPMs then your alternator is bad and more than likely the battery is now no good . A battery will expire if while driving you run it completely dead numerous times and will never hold a charge again

Would using premium gas help create a richer mixture?

check the alternator. See if it's putting out 13.6v when running.
Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running.
Either that or you have a short some where in the electrical system and it is putting a drain on the battery.

How do you know its water? i thought it was gas leaking out of a muffler?

Dirty battery cables will cause the same problem, but with a new battery, I would think they cleaned the terminals before they put the new battery in.

Cadillac Engine rebuild?

get your alternator checked. as far as the hood you may have to pull and hold the latch while someone bangs on the hood to pop it. You may also want to check to see if the hood latch cable has broke off the latch itself in which case you can grab and pull the cable with some vise grip pliers.

I purchased a used car and i would like to know when i change the oil?

SELL IT!

Timing for a John Deere Model "B"?

The battery and hood problem are two seperate problems. For the battery check your terminals and i also would recomend buying a can of battery cleaner and clean it. If niether of those things work buy a new battery and everything should be fine unless there is another problem somehwere. As for the hood it could just be the cable that releases the latch. To get it open now get someone to pull the realease and then slam the hood down and it should unlatch. Then you should be able to see the problem with the realease. Shouldnt cost that much to fix if thats the problem.
