What do they check for car inspection?

Any good auto parts store can tell you where it is but you'll need to tell them if the car has the 4cyl or the 6cyl engine. If my memory serves me correctly, the 6 cylinder has a "drop-in" thermostat under the coolant filler cap that has a handle attached to it which you can just lift out after removing the cap.

I really do not know of any website comparable to a Chilton's or Haynes book. Personally, if you plan on owning the car for any extended period of time, and plan on doing the work yourself, try buying a factory shop manual for your car. You may be able to find one on eBay, or from one of the companies that sell old automotive books and publications. That is what I am doing right now for my 2002 Kia.
