Honda transmission oil change?

Question:
Is a transmission fluid change usually done for a 2005 Honda Civic maintenance at 30k miles? The mechanic said it needs to be done for any 4 cylinder Honda between 01 and 05 that drive under 'Severe Conditions' but my manual says 60k under 'Normal Conditions'. Anyone know if the mechanic is right?
