can you get the gears with the engine off?if so your clutch is dragging(not fully disengaging), this means your gearbox is still turning with the clutch down! gears will be really hard to get, higher gears will be easier to get in, but still not good.
don't know if cable is adjustable or not, could be just new cable needed, if not it's an expensive gearbox off job for a new clutch, if so make sure all 3 parts are changed (friction plate, pressure plate,and release bearing)

Dont panic, i AM SURE UR GEARBOX IS FINE, CHECK THE LINKAGE FROM THE LEVER TO GEARBOX, its possible that the gear rod or rods have popped out of their bushes, its an easy fix.
