I have a 1994 4runner v6 my differentials are going fast.can i replace just the differentials or do i have to?

Question:
do i have to change the whole rear end what is the approximate cost?

Answers:

how much do you pay for a car wash and how often do you get it washed?

If its the rear diff, the "pumpkin" it can be rebuilt, however, unless you have a lot of experience with that kind of thing I would recomend taking it to a good repair shop, that routinely does this kind of work. Most quicklube/autopart chain stores are probably not qualified to do this kind of work. If you have some mechanically inclined friends you can get them to help, it may be less costly to have someone help you just put in a junkyard rearend. It all comes down to confidence and skill.
