Best place to start to find out more info about your 1954 or any of the older cars and trucks of that time is to get a hold of the older Motor Manuals for those years.
Most of those manuals cover a ten year span per year.
There are several kinds to look for.
There is one for repair, one for parts, and one for a cross reference.
These Manuals were being made starting in the early thirties.
Look for marune ones for the early years and then dark blue for later years.
There were dark green ones for times for repair and in the later years labor cost.
