Question:
My car has been acting crazy on my lately. First of all I have a 2001 Kia Optima.when I first crank the car up, it shakes and sometimes it will shut off. So then I crank it up again, but when I pull off, the car is slow to accelerate. It also jumps when I press on the gas pedal. This stops after a minute of driving the car though (it only cuts off when I first crank up the car). Accelerating is also fine after about a minute, unless I am trying to go about 70 mph, then after a while it will be harder to accelerate. Another thing that is wrong is that the steering wheel is hard to turn. I discovered that I was low on power steering fluid, so I filled it and then I noticed that there was a leak. So I had the hose replaced. Still it is hard to turn. So the problems are cutting off, and steering wheel is hard to turn. I would appreciate some insight on what is wrong before I take it to a mechanic so I will have some idea of what is wrong before I get there. Thanks!

well your problem lies in the second sentence you wrote ... you have a KIA Optima. Everyone knows that Kia's aren't reliable cars I'm surprised it's lasted 6 years!oh and take it to a shop for a diagnostic test. They'll be able to answer your question better than we can. Without seeing the car it's a little harder to give you a 100% answer
could be bad coil wires and plugs.your power steering could just need a belt tighten, however, it could also need a new pump, fluid, a leaked fixed. I would start at the belt though
I agree with buff. It's likely an ignition coil, spark plug wire, and/or spark plugs. The shaking you're experiencing is probably a misfire. If the plugs haven't been changed regularly, do so, and make sure they're gapped properly.

The serpentine belt(s) should be checked first for the power steering problem. Otherwise, the fluid may have to be replaced - there might be air bubbles in the system. Even worse, the power steering pump may not be operating correctly - though this is not likely to be the problem.
