Your car should not lose power if the fan belt is slipping..! It could be one of the alternator bearings is knackered causing it not to charge the battery whilst your driving. Hence the lack of power. Start your car, put the headlites on full beam. Check how strong they are and then turn off the car-not the lites. If they stay the same, probably dull then its the alternator.anyone know where I could get a repair manual for a 1996 (N) Toyota Ipsum?
Most likely a belt slipping. Cost will depend on vehicle year, make, model. If the belt is fairly new then it may just need to be tightened, the procedure for that is different for every vehicle otherwise I would describe it. You can go to NAPA and get a Krikit (think thats how they spell it) belt tension gauge for like 12 bucks that will last a life time, might be a worthy investmentwhat type of oil should I use for my car (VW Lupo)?
may be the CAM belt also, you need to get that looked at asap,if that snaps it can cause other problems to the engine,i had a cam belt and fan belt put onto a vauxhall omega it cost me 60 quid.my motor runs rough at idle what is it that i need to do to fix that?
sounds like a loose and wet fan belt to me too although im not a professional.by the way if your clio is a newer type (3/4years +) GET RID OF IT.they cost a fortune to fix and are a death trap the wintery weather.yes its the fan belt. it would cos you 20 quid for the belt and approx 20 quid to fit it
synthetic oil VS regular motor oil HELP?
if it squeaked when you reved the engine then its the water pump. i doubt its a fan belt. i would think a new pump and fitting would cost around £50-£100clutch problem..loose belt would not cause power loss
The fan belt won’t affect the driving performance of the car, as you describe. It could very well be the cam belt though! Don't start the car until you've had it looked at. The damage caused by a broken/slipping cam belt can be horrific so fingers crossed.
Squealing would suggest slipping fan belt.
If it had slipped a notch on cam belt it would be making worse noises than that.
why is my car battery not charging?
My guess for the lack of power is some sensor in the car indicates to engine management there is a fault and cuts the revs back to save excess damage.
What causes the windows on my G35 to become splotchy when the weather warms up?
If it just needs a fan belt even at a garage I would of thought no more than £40-£50.
do auto zone, advanced auto parts, or orielys, check engine light testers can be hooked up to OBDII?
Sound more like clutch slip to me , as a test put car in top gear and try to pull away with engine revs about 300. if the engine is still running and the car is squealing your clutch has gone if it stalls then it is not the clutchMore Questions & Answers ...
