Question:
I have a 2002 Altima and recently had new tires put on and balanced. The steering feels nice on smooth pavement and asphalt roads. When i drive over uneven and cracked up roads with lots of bumps, the steering wheel starts jiggling and i can practically feel the road in the steering wheel. This only occurs on uneven ground. I have 80,000 miles and the shocks/struts have never been replaced. Could that be the problem? The car does not sag but the rear can be a lil bouncy sometimes and over big bumps it will bottom out. If no one thinks this is the problem, what else could affect the steering only on BUMPY and UNEVEN roads? Any suggestions are good ones!

i mechanic for a living,,and this is a sign of bad struts on a car,if you can bounce it real easy and it bounces more than twice,,you need to have the struts and shocks replaced on it,,and that will cause it to ride real bad on a rough road,,,i own a repair shop,and i get a lot of the newer cars in with bad shocks and struts on them,its just normal wear and tear on them,,id have them replaced,,and the front end realigned and this should take care of it,,good luck hope this help,sVauxhall omega cd2.5 where will you find the dip stick for the gearbox?
Did this condition exist before installing the new tires?does anyone know of any protectants for leatherette seats?
If yes, then most definately I would suggest replacing the struts, which will be well worn with this kind of mileage. Struts are what dampen the wheel motions over bumps to prevent exactly the kind of problems you are encountering.

If this condition began with the new tires and did not exist before that suggests a tire problem, most likely over-inflation - but I kinda doubt that would cause a problem as severe as what you are relating.
