I have been having some Issues with my 97 intrepid. ive spent A ton of cash on it I fix A little error in spark plugs and no codes untill now! 1 thing that smokes my hinee with this car in that when some thing goes wrong you cant fix it your self unless you have A complete manule covering this thing.
needless 2 say, Am getting the code 50 from the check engin light. The kicker is in All the code books I have the 50 code is nonexistant. HELP

To start with you do not have a code 50 for your car. On a newer car the check engine light flashes when the computer detects a misfire that could cause damage to the catalytic converter. Code 50 does not exist in my book either. That is an OBD I code. Take it to an auto parts store and get the OBD II code and you can fix the problem. There was an overlap in the compliance between I and II and your vehicle is in the overlapping area. Somewhere around the 2000 model year, the key on and off routine only checked the instrument lights and would not give you a code.How do you get the gasoline smell out of clothing/car upholstery?
I would for sure ake it to a shop and get the code read. Should only charge you 25 to 30 dollars. The intrepids had problems with plugs with plugs when you had plenty of miles on them. You should also change you plug wires also. They have been known to short out. Good luckwhat is overdrive in automatic transmission?
