Bit of lubrication on the steering rack/cv jointsIt sounds like the power steering belt is slipping. It may be overstretched from use and ready to break. In most modern cars it is a serpentine belt that also turns your water pump, generator, air conditioner and all so it breaking is major grief. Check your power steering fluid just to be sure it is not low or leaking. Then look at the ribbed side of the belt and see if it has cracks or chunks-missing in it which are a bad sign.

loose nut behind the wheelIt sounds like the ball joints. Mine did the same thing, annoyed the crud out of me. I took it to a mechanic for a tuneup and he told me the ball joints needed to be oiled. Some can be oiled some cant fortunately mine were oilable and it fixed the problem instantly.
Can I take a SUV I bought used to the Ford dealer to get a recalled part fixed?
It's all in the power steering, now some cars don't have power steering so it depends on what type of car you have.If you have one that has power steering then it can just be that the fluid has gone low, just pick up some fluid at any gas station and fill it to the indicating level on the measuring stick.
Now if your car does not have power steering, maybe its the engine band, it will need to be replaced before it actually breaks!
Hope this helps!
