Question:
Before I take my car to a mechanic I'd like to have some idea what can be wrong with it. My problem is once in a while the rear passenger side makes a loud banging sound going over a bump, sometimes it doesn't but it humps or bucks up with no sound. What could it be?
Answers:
What is the total number of parts that make up the average car?
it would help if you mentioned what type of car if it is,on a chevy or Saturn some of them use a big metal strap hanger for the muffler which will cause the exhaust to bang when hitting bumps if strap is broken. if it is a swaybar link or bushing you'll usually hear more of a rattle noise or clunking the noise you're describing sounds alot like a blown shock or strut,or a strut coil spring. these are most of the things I've seen while working on cars it is possible that something else is the problem but most likely one of the things listed is the culprit. Well I hope this helps good luck.Today my check engine light came on after my car stopped. What could be the problem?
You don't say what type of car, it could be that the exhaust may have a broken hanger and over bumps it is banging up against the underside of car. It could be a broken spring or sway bar or it's mounting. good luckwhen starting my vahicle it makes rattling noise underneath front n/s can it be driveshaft?
Could be a safely item I would take it to the dealer right away.Intermittent knocking from right front tire area?
