Tripometer and clock keep reseting!?

Question:
For the past couple of months when I start my 1998 Chevy S10 2.2 Liter. The tripometer and my CD player clock reset and this is very annoying. My truck went dead a few months ago so I jump started it and charged it for a little while. But since then the tripometer and clock reset all the time when I start it up. Also my OBD II port does not work. I took it to a garage to get inspected and their machine could not read my truck. So I got out my out code reader thinking their machine was messed up. So I plugged my code reader into the OBD II port and turn the key on and everything like your supposed to do but my code reader that I know works could not read my truck it acted like it wasn't even plugged in. No power! What is causing all of this?

You need a new computer chip, yours got fried somehow. You can order one at the dealership and it comes with instructions on how to replace it - be careful to keep yourselft grounded
