Why does my transmission kick when I shift into Drive How much will it cost to get a new one.?

Question:
I own a 1974 Chevy pickup with the 350 of course. Its 4wd and lifted. It just makes a hard kick when I shift into D and when I shift into reverse it takes almost 2 seconds before it will change into reverse...from park or drive. Any idea's?....and price to fix if real seriouse?

Your looking at your transmission starting to go bad, pretty soon it will be more than 2 seconds before it goes into each gear. If this car is your "baby" and you love it, then it may be worth fixing. If its your only car, that you use to get from A to B, then your better off getting a new car. Transmission = $$$$.
