Window stopped working 01' oldsmobile alero?

Any vehicle's CRANKSHAFT sensor (CKP) is a magnetic pick-up that supplies voltage signals to the vehicle's PCM (powertrain control module) as an input to indicate crankshaft position, USUALLY relative to cylinder #1, hence the name. The ONLY information that the PCM "knows" based upon this input alone is whether the cylinder is at TDC (top dead center) or BDC (bottom dead center), and engine speed (RPM). What it does NOT "know", is whether the cylinder is approaching TDC on the end of compression and beginning of power stroke, OR the end of exhaust and beginning of intake stroke. THAT is the job of the CAMSHAFT position sensor. How was it determined that the crankshaft sensor was faulty? Was it scanned for codes? Did your tachometer stop working (since it gets its signal from the CKP)? You didn't mention the year, make and model of your vehicle, so it's hard to tell you what the problem is.

if you have a bad crank sensor, so bad the car wont start, then you most likely will have a dtc for that ;if no dtc, chances are your crank sensor is ok.

How do you jump start a car?

The crankshaft sensor is an electonic proximity sensor that tells your car computor where top dead centre of the crankshaft is so it can adjust the spark timing to suit conditions. Sounds like it's still playing up for some reason. What you describe happens when it's not working correctly.
