Could someone tell me if the car sometimes starts but has to be jumped other times...could that be the starter? Would I have to replace the starter? Does it have a solenoid? The battery is new, so I don't think it is that. Thanks for any help.

The solenoid mounted on top of the starter. It's located below the passenger side bolted on the forward face of the bell-housing. Does the starter whine when you turn the key on? if so the Bendix is bad. That's at the end of the starter shaft. Chevy starters have the selenoid built into the starter. It is changeable but it is not worth replacing just replace the starter if it is at fault. when you are trying to start it and it is not cranking does it make a clicking sound if so this is a pretty good telltale that the starter is at fault. If no nose then you should have the battery checked to see if it is charged even though it is new if it is good then you should check the connections at the battery and starter. if all look good then the starter is probably at fault but you should have it checked.More Questions & Answers ...
